Library Submission Terms
Last updated: 29 October 2026
The Queer Ink Digital Library makes queer Indian books, archives and knowledge easier to find. It is growing, and it begins with our reference list of queer Indian published books. These terms explain how you can suggest or submit material, and what happens to it.
1. What you can submit
We welcome:
- books, papers, articles and essays by, about or relevant to queer Indian lives;
- audio or video recordings of interviews, oral histories, performances or talks;
- documents, scans or photographs of historical or cultural significance;
- films, short films and documentaries; and
- links to material elsewhere on the web that should be findable through the Library.
You can also suggest a book for our reference list, or point out a correction, without submitting any material yourself.
2. You confirm you have the right
By submitting material, you confirm that:
- you own the copyright, or you have the rightsholder’s permission to submit it;
- it does not infringe anyone else’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
- any identifiable people in it have agreed to its inclusion, where their consent is needed; and
- it does not contain anything illegal under Indian law or the law of other major jurisdictions.
3. What we ask for
We ask for permission to:
- hold the material in the Library;
- catalogue and index it so it can be found through search;
- show it to Library users on the access option you choose; and
- cite and refer to it alongside related material.
This permission is non-exclusive. You keep ownership, and you remain free to publish, distribute or use the material anywhere else.
4. Access options
You choose how the material is made available:
- Full text or file: visitors can read, listen or watch directly in the Library.
- Excerpt with link: we show a short excerpt and link to the full work elsewhere, such as your website or publisher.
- Citation only: the material can be found through search with a citation, and visitors are directed to obtain it elsewhere.
5. Editorial review
We review every submission before adding it. We may decline material that:
- falls outside the Library’s scope;
- has unclear rights or origins;
- promotes hatred, violence or harm against queer people or any other community; or
- compromises the privacy of identifiable people without their consent.
If we decline a submission, we will tell you and briefly explain why.
6. Withdrawal
You may withdraw your submission at any time by writing to us. We will remove it from the Library within seven working days. References that Library users have already made elsewhere may remain, and we cannot recall them.
7. Corrections and updates
If you would like to correct, update or replace material you have submitted, write to us and we will update the Library promptly. Where a change is substantial, we may note the date of the update.
8. No fee
Submitting material to the Library is free. We do not charge submitters, and we do not pay for submissions: the Library is a free public resource, not a commercial publication.
9. How to submit
Use the contact form and choose “Digital Library”, or write to us. Please tell us:
- what the material is;
- who holds the rights;
- which access option you would like; and
- anything else we should know.
We aim to reply within two weeks.
Email: info@queer-ink.com, with the subject line “LIBRARY” and a few words about your submission.
