PUBLISHING

Writing the future we deserve.

Stories can change lives. At Queer Ink, publishing is more than producing books. It is about ensuring that we write, share, discover, and remember important queer Indian lives and stories.

Our publishing work follows two pathways: we create carefully considered publications from archives and collections, while Swabhimaan supports independent creators in developing, publishing, and owning their work on their own terms.

Two Pathways. One Purpose.

QUEER INK PUBLISHING

From the Archives

We transform carefully curated archival collections into books that preserve and share the histories of queer lives, communities, and movements in India.

These publications draw on oral histories, manuscripts, photographs, correspondence, organisational records, and other archival materials—making them accessible to readers, educators, researchers, and future generations.

SWABHIMAAN

Creative Autonomy through Financial Independence

Swabhimaan supports independent creators in developing, publishing, and owning their work on their own terms. Through practical support, mentorship and independent distribution, creators build sustainable practices beyond a single book.

BEYOND THE BOOK

A book keeps working long after it is published.

  • Reach readers worldwide
  • Generate royalties
  • Open new opportunities
  • Build a lasting legacy

FROM ARCHIVES TO BOOKS

Today’s books become tomorrow’s history.

We transform archival collections, research and lived histories into books that bring queer histories alive.

WHY QUEER INK?

Publishing stories. Preserving histories.

  • Independent creators at the centre
  • Stories preserved for the future
  • Connecting books, knowledge and readers
