Gurukul is the story of a young man who understands about homosexuality from his teacher during his daily dialogues with him to expand his own view of the world. It slowly dawns on him that homosexuality is a grossly misunderstood area and there is a need to educate most Indians about this issue. He decides to start an NGO after completing his education and starts working for the gay community. Through a sensitive dialogue between teacher and pupil, Gurukul explores the issue of homosexuality in the Indian context. This story is taken forward in Gurukul Ek Adhuri Kahani, sequel to this novel.
